just a hole bunch of "tips", if you can even call them that, for the most random crap ever. i don't even know why i made this tbh i just kind of did
Can't draw a specific thing and can't actually learn how to draw it for some reason but really want to draw it anyway? Draw it as something that you can draw.[]
discovered this myself and it functioned adequately.
idk lemme just use my own personal experience as an example
so like, 6000 years ago i got into drawing and really wanted to draw stuff about my dumb-ass AU's. But i had, like, absolutely no idea on how to draw even a flipping cat back then. All i could draw was details, a cartoony animal-ish face and a generic low-quality circle.
That's when it hit me. Draw the characters as slime rancher-style.. well, slimes.
and i did that for quite a while. then, when i switched to drawing actual creatures, i used a species i had named 'voidchargers' back then (they still exist as an aether forest species called Abyss Dwellers, by the way) as a stand-in for Gems since i had no damn idea on how to draw aforementioned Gems. I then drew Gems as just random anthro cats with gemstones when i learned how to draw anthro cats.
...and the anthro cats themselves essentially were a weird stand-in for humans, but then kind of became their own thing.
Same shit, but in Spore[]
yeah uh
literally just the same thing, except with creature creation in spore. Can't create something, but really want to anyway? Create it as something that you can actually create, with the traits of whatever the 'original' is.
Starlight Fauxries and The Crystalline (which are essentially a remake of said Fauxries) are a good example of this. I literally used Starlight Fauxries as a replacement for Gems, and i keep using The Crystalline as a replacement for them as of right now.
Starlight Fauxries are bestial-looking creatures, and The Crystalline are an anthro-ish remake, but essentially are the same thing. I can't fucking make anything human-looking in Spore, but 99,9% of the shit i create on there contain gems in the plot, so i use the stand-ins - and it fucking works.
